Scallywags is located on the 13 Mile Marker by water, or just down Shawnee Bend-2 by land – on the site of what was formerly El Capitan. Ron Duggan, owner of Captain Ron’s and Scallywags, said the new restaurant’s concept will be similar to Captain Ron’s, but without some of the heavier dinner items on the menu. “We’ll have our famous grouper dinners and chicken dinners,” he said, adding the menu would feature plenty of pizzas and sandwiches.

At first, Scallywags will be open Fridays-Mondays, but beginning May 2, the restaurant will open Thursdays as well, and will keep a Thursday-Monday schedule during the regular busy season – Memorial Day to Labor Day.

So check yer compass, adjust yer course bearings, and catch the prevailing winds that’ll blow ye straight into the pirates’ arms at Scallywags.

By Water: Located at the 13 mile marker in Chimney Cove, next to Pointe Oasis Gas Docks. Please use the two docks on either side of the main gas dock, or you can use the gas dock itself.

By Land: From Highway 5, turn on Highway F, then on TT, then MM to Shawnee Bend No. 2 (Chimney Point Road). Go approximately 1 mile to El Capitan signs. From Highway 54, take the toll bridge across and turn right at Shawnee Bend No. 2.

The Olive Branch Restaurant is moving to the Indian Rock Golf Course in Laurie. Formerly located in the old St. Patrick’s Catholic Church building in Gravois Mills, owner Brad and Jean Vold invite you to opening day of the new restaurant on Friday, Aug. 17. The restaurant hours will be 8 a.m.-9 p.m. seven days a week.

Vold plans to create a dining experience similar to a winery with a peaceful and calming atmosphere. Award winning Italian cuisine is the specialty of the house, along with delicious chicken, seafood and steak dishes. Customer favorites include the beef spedini, which is thinly sliced steak rolled in bread crumbs and parmesan cheese, on a bed of steaming pasta. Two of the best selling dishes are their authentic Italian lasagna or fried spaghetti and vegetables with shrimp or chicken. The fried spaghetti also comes in a Creole’ version. Be sure to save room for homemade cheese cake or tiramisu and spumoni ice cream.
Happy hour and reduced priced drinks will be from 2 to 5 p.m. On Wednesday nights there will be   chicken-wing specials.
